Your Guide: What to Wear to Your Friends Wedding

Wedding season is upon us. If your like me you’ve already received a million and a half (exactly) invitations or “Save the Date” cards. Now I’m not against going to weddings especially when you are friends with one or both parties of the engaged couple. The problem is, it’s a wedding, so you have to dress up. You can’t wear a t-shirt,  lacrosse shorts, and flip flops… or at least you should be advised that it’s majorly socially unacceptable to do so. I figured I would give you some inspiration when it comes to dressing up for a wedding. Obviously you can’t outdo the Groom but you definitely want to look nice (especially if your single… there are some pretty single brides maids at these events..) Here is Jon Mclaughlin, wearing a light colored suit. You can’t go wrong with a crisp clean white button down (notice the smaller collar) paired with a black tie. It’s a nice contrast and very appropriate for both the season and the occasion. Here is Jake wearing a darker suit. Notice that the blazer is a one button jacket. The collar on the shirt is a lot bigger than the one Jon is wearing. The visual interest in this look comes from the tie. That’s where you can have fun and ad your own creative element (by creative element I don’t mean ties with cartoons on them, video game themes, or anything juvenile). Jake picked poca-dots which is always festive. In honor of the Royal Wedding, I choose Prince Harry for our third look. Harry is wearing a navy double breasted blazer. White collared shirt (I think it’s a good option to go with a simple white  button down shirt and then be creative with the selection of tie; plus it makes it easier to match the whole ensemble).  Harry finished  his look with a  preppy  diagonally striped tie.

SWITCHING GEARS

While on my quest to find suits/options for weddings I came across Rugby RL. I’m not necessarily advocating their suits. I just really liked their lookbook. They show you how to put a suit together with different colored oxfords, incorporating bow ties, and vests, etc. This last look is definitely not for everybody. If you are more trendy/inclined to be more “hipster” in your choice of wardrobe than the last look could work for you. Khaki is very in this summer and rolling up your pant legs is the cool thing to do.

Hemingway Era: Rugby RL Summer 2011

They definitely have other colors than the traditional nautical blue and white I’ve displayed above. I guess I naturally just gravitate towards those colors.. lol I just realized that after I finished the post.. This summer Rugby RL has been inspired by the Hemingway Era

For those of you who do not know who Ernest Hemingway is: he is one of the most famous American writers of the 20th century; he wrote novels as well as short stories. He wrote about outdoorsmen, expatriates, soldiers and other men of action. Hemingway had a very distinct way of writing that was very plain especially when compared to other writers of his day.
